Welcome to your first boss battle in ToonTown. As you learned through the factory guide, you need to gain 10 cog suit pieces by beating the Sellbot Factory's Foreman 10 different times in order to get each piece of your cog suit.

When you enter Sellbot Headquarters, you will see the entrance to the Vice President's Office straight ahead. Watch out for the cogs that are running throughout the courtyard of Sellbot HQ and out of the doors to the Vice President's Office. If you get caught by one of these cogs, you will either lose gags or laff points by defeating him. You need your gags completely stocked and your laff points full before going into battle with the VP. Once you have your suit completed and fill your merit meter by beating Sellbots, you can finally enter the doors to The VP's office.



After going through these doors, you would expect to see more cogs, but there are none. Upon entering this door, you will have a Cold Caller cog suit on that "disguises" you from being recognized by the Sellbot VP. Hopefully when you enter this room, there will be other toons that are ready to fight the VP with you. One word of warning for this, is watch for shuffling. If the toons waiting for the battle do not like your laff level or the gags that you are holding, they may not want to go onto the elevatorwith you. There are two suggestions that will get you into the VP the first few times easily. Either find a group of seven other friends that have some experience in this area, or do a few runs with the Cold Callers Guild (CCG), which is a group of toons that adhere to extremely strict rules to help new toons be successful in the boss battles. One other word of warning: If you are standing near the elevator, most other toons are going to take that as meaning you are ready to go. So, if you are not ready to battle the VP, do not go up the stairs towards the elevator.

The elevator at the end of the room can hold anywhere from 1 to 8 toons. It is suggested that until you are confident in your VP skills, you go with 7 other toons to fight the VP.



Once the elevator doors open, the team of toons will be split into two groups to battle the Sellbot forces. The VP does not figure out it is a group of toons that have entered his office until a toon in a cage starts yelling and asking if you have come to rescue him or her.



In the first of three rounds, you will be split into two groups where you fight regular cogs ranging in size from 1 - 12 in every variety. Make sure to choose your gags wisely during this round because you still have one other round to get through. The laff levels of the toons you are working with will determine the strategy that you need to take. If there are low laffers in your group (lower than 60), the suggestion is that you lure left and kill right. This means that one toon should lure the unlured cogs while the rest take out the cogs on the right hand side of the screen. The number of cogs you kill will depend on the speed in which you kill the cogs and how many cogs the other team of toons kill.



After this round is complete, the toon you are trying to rescue says:


In the second round, you fight the skelecogs. In this round, the groups of toons are reorganized and you fight skelecogs randing from levels 8 - 12. This presents a bigger challange for your group because now you need to use those level 5 and 6 gags, and maybe even the new level 7 gags. In this round, you should try and take the same strategy you used before if you have low laff toons with you. Unless lure misses, the lure left kill right strategy works to keep all the toons alive. Again, how many cogs you kill in this round will be determined by how fast you kill the cogs and how many cogs the other group of toons kills.

Once the skelecogs are beaten, the toon you are trying to rescue speaks again:




In the final round of the battle, you actually get to fight the VP. Luckily, this fight does not take place with the gags you have in your gag pouch. Once you beat all the skelecogs, you have to run to the toon that is in the cage and jump to touch the bottom of the cage. Once you do that, you are given an unlimited supply of creme pies that you use to throw at the VP. These pies can be thrown at the VP by pressing the Insert button on your keyboard, or by clicking the pie image (top center of your screen) with your mouse.

This is the ultimate test of teamwork, because you have to know many things in order to be victorious against the VP. First, is that there has to be at least one toon that is good at stunning? Stunning means that someone has to throw pies into the undercarriage of the VP. When you look at the VP, down near the treads are two doors, one in the front and one in the back. The toon that is stunning the VP needs to throw a pie into the undercarriage. If you have two toons that are good at stunning, you can have one stand behind the VP and one in front. In order to stun him up close, you need to learn how to use the blue power meter that shows when you hold down the insert key (or hold left click onto the pie with your mouse). If you release the button when the power meter is all the way to the right, it will throw the pie at a high arc that lands closer to you. If you release when the meter is all the way to left, the pie will travel in a near perfect straight line and travel a good distance. It takes a lot of practice to learn how to use this power meter and to make it work to your advantage. If you are not good at stunning close up, then you can try stunning from a distance, but this takes good aim. When the VP opens one or both of those doors, immediately try and get a pie into his undercarriage. When this happens you will see him turn red dizzy just long enough for toons to pelt him with pies to knock him back towards the launch pad.

Once he turns red, the rest of the toons need to throw pies at his head or chest to knock him back. Your goal is to drive the VP down the ramp and off the edge of the launch pad. This takes a lot of teamwork and effort on the part of the toons because the VP will do many things to defend himself from being beaten. When toons are close enough to him, he will spin around and throw gears in large quantities that causes toons to loose 3 laff points. If you are not standing close enough for him to use the attack where he spins, then he will try to throw gears directly at you. You can tell when he is targeting you because he looks at you, which does give you time to jump out of the way. But the jump has to be timed just right to miss this loss of 3 laff points. If there are no toons near him to attack with gears, watch out because he will start jumping, which can cause a toon to lose 10 laff points. You can tell when he is about to jump because a whoosh type noise is made that alerts you to his jumps. If you hit the Ctrl key, you can jump to avoid his earth shaking landing. When he starts jumping, a high laff toon should bite the bullet and run close to him or even run into him. If this does not happen, then the VP may go into a jumping fit (which occurs if there are no toons near him). Running directly into the VP will only cause you to lose 1 laff point, but it will also stop his jumps temporarily. The one thing you have to watch out for is his swatting motion. Once a toon touches the VP, he will bend down and try to swat that toon away. If he is successful with his hit, that toon will loose 5 laff points. It does take a while for him to perform this attack, so there is more than enough time to get away before he hits you. If you have some low laffers or notice that another toon is getting dangerously low in their laff levels, you can toon up your fellow toons by hitting them with a pie. For every pie, he or she gains one laff point. You should be careful with this because if too many toons are working on toon-up, it will leave everyone else vulnerable to attacks by the VP and the quicker you can get the VP off the launch pad, the easier the battle will be.

Once the team of toons gets him down to the ramp and knocked off the edge of the launch pad, the toons have won the battle.

Once the VP has fallen, you go through the traditional dance sequence and gain experience for all your gags and gain anything that met requirements of your toontasks. The one thing that you will notice is that your merit meter (which is just off to the right of your gag meters) has has its numbers change. When you go and speak with the saved toon he or she states:





Ultimately this means two things. The first is that you just gained an NPC (non-playing character) toon that is willing to help you during a battle. This toon turns into an SOS card that you can see in your shticker book. Your shticker book can only hold 8 different SOS cards, so be choosy in the ones you use and keep. Also, in order to fight the VP again, since you have earned promotion papers that he conveniently left behind, you have to fight more sellbots. You can do this in three different ways. The first is street fighting, the second is buildings, and the third is the factory. As seen in the factory guide, you sometimes have to earn a lot of merits in order to get those promotions. Therefore, the quickest way to earn the merits you need for a promotion is to run the factory and if you need to earn more merits than just a regular factory run will provide, it is recommended that you try and get into an invasion district or find a toon friend that is willing to use one of their invasions to help you gain double the merits. The only way to earn double merits while in a factory is to beat the factory foreman before a cog invasion ends.

There is a time in a toon's life when he or she will not have to run through the factory anymore. This is when the toon reaches their Mr. Hollywood 50 suit. When you have reached your Mr. Hollywood 50 suit, the shopkeeper you rescue in the VP battle tells you the following:




It takes many VP battles in order to attain that Mr. Hollywood 50. You can do this quickly if you specifically focus on Sellbot HQ or have a good group of friends that will help you run the factory directly after fighting the VP.

It takes a while to learn what each toon/shopkeeper (the toon you save during the VP battle) provides you in the way of help . So when you get out of battle make sure to check your shticker book to learn what help they are providing.
